When We Were Three

This project is a homage to my dad, John Early, an incredible artist who passed away in March 2023. He often talked about a college art assignment in which he was tasked to draw the same three objects 100 times and how much that structure guided his later work. I am following the same journey and meditating on the dynamic of my nuclear family of three: our ever shifting configuration. I created these pieces with color pencils, graphite, watercolor, India ink, paper collage, collograph print, acrylic, gouache, crayon, markers and natural pigments made from ingredients I gathered locally.
