Landscapes: the land is alive

The land is always moving. Shadows swell and ripple over the land and with them colors burst into prominence and fade into dimmer hues. The wind pushes a parade of clouds across the sky and sways the branches of trees in ever-changing patterns. Water is never still, always exposing new disturbances and reflections. The game as a landscape artist is to distill all of these unique moments into one piece, finding the patterns that represent the core of a place, while expressing the wild aliveness of the land.

Urban landscapes

People are also the land. A crowded marketplace, a protest march, or a park for the dead are all landscapes made up of and by humans. Whether I’m in the middle of a forest or a crowd, drawing and painting allow me to connect and feel present. I hope these pieces will do the same for you.
